  • Office Hours: There are NOT any required office hours in Zoom since all students have different schedules. For this asynchronous online class, I will primarily answer questions through email. I check email several times a day and will get back to you quickly when you have a question. If the question is complicated, I will occasionally record a video explaining the answer to your question and then send the answer video to you. You are also welcome to request a one-on-one Zoom meeting with me.

It is also helpful to read the textbook if further explanation is needed. You will then be completing a few problems from the textbook and submitting then to Canvas. Occasionally you will also have a class discussion with your classmates in Canvas. On exam weeks you will you be watching a review video that goes over the review sheet and tells you what to study. Then you will need to study for the exam and then take the exam in Canvas.
  • Time Commitment: Most people do fine in 140 classes as long as they set aside enough time to watch the videos and work on the problems and exams. Eight-week classes require more hours of work each week than regular 16-week classes. Expect to spend at least 10 hours a week watching the lecture videos and working on the Math 140 assignments. If you do not have at least 10 hours available in your schedule, it best not to take the class. Note: Everyone works at their own pace. Some students may require more than 10 hours a week.
