We just updated the app and the system is defaulting to one speaker after each use. I connected with Sonos help via chat and they indicated some of the speakers needed to have operating software update. Did that and still nothing changed re defaulting to one speaker after using it. Also now once setting up an other “rooms” to play from when I look at the App it is indicating that it is playing on a different speaker than I requested

Phone supper is over an hour wait. Guess everyone having issues! Why won’t Sonos issue a statement regarding status of problems w new app. This is beyond frustrating. No communication and no way to reach them by phone in less than an hour wait!

I have 3 properties ALL with Sonos speakers and can’t even get ONE SPEAKER to work or be found on this new junkie app. Can’t believe they screwed so many of us. Yes it is BEYOND frustrating.

After update EVERYTHING is just crap.
1.: I cannot search in the app
2.: When I change the number (from the list with last listened, as I cannot search) it starts the music on another speaker, and not the one I already listen to music on.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Yes very similar issue. Ours reverts to one speaker every time even if you had other speakers operating. Frustrating thing is the one speaker it reverts to is in the bedroom so not really ideal when opening the App to listen to music at night when one of us has gone to bed but the other is still up …. Also once selecting speakers to listen too when you open the app to stop the music (say when a phone call comes in) it does not allow you to immediately shut off what you are listening to as it takes 3 or 4 steps to get the music stopped

I’ve had the sameissue. Whatever I want to play keeps switching to my second speaker in another room even though I have not changed it.

Also there is a noticeable delay when playing a song - a much slower response time than we had with the previous app.

Very frustrating. I wish I could go back to the old app.

Can I revert to previous version? this new one is not working.

If you have Android devices, there’s a way to revert - you can search for that - rolling back to 16.1. If you have iOS, you can buy the inexpensive SonoPhone or SonoPad apps (the author of those is probably the only one loving Sonos right now!) My PC Desktop app also still works.

Gee how can you throw so many of your previous excellent USPs down the drain. Is it a ploy for member of the IT team to buy the whole Sonus company on the cheap .

n usps not working but for me -

no visible queue or ability to add/position as next or end

volume control that is at best unresponsive and sometimes appears totally random

keeps messaging “ something has gone wrong “ this really made everyone at our party laugh out loud when happened 3xs on the trot .

and so on and on . No point in listing more faults as by now Sonus youwill have an ongoing list from hundreds of disgruntled users .
Outwith what must be or should be panic amongst your team it would be useful if you could provide an honest estimate of when these basics will be fixed before the brand is irreparably damaged and trashed beyond belief . Used to be proud of my Sonus system , now darent use it when have guests .

Same issue here, the system is continually defaulting to bedroomspeaker whenever you try to play something in another room, impossible to use, is someone at Sonos doing something about it? Has someone found a workaround?

As all of you know, the updated Sonos app is terrible. A few nights ago we moved furniture and oneSonos speaker around in the house. We noticed the music stopped throughout the house. Under the normal app experience, just open the app and restart music. NOPE! Now the app froze and wouldn’t complete the open process. You could search, but you couldn’t start any music. Restart the app, restart the app again, restart the app again,….yup the internet is working and no outage…restart the app AGAIN…. nothing. Before you make the statement or claim, yes all of the speakers are set for auto-firmware update. Yes, all of the speakers are checked and updated. This is an app problem not a firmware problem or end-user failure.
So we finish moving everything. Launch the app and still nothing, plug in the speaker that was moved and voila the app now works. Apparently that was the “primary” speaker the app had somehow decided MUST be online before moving forward. Terrible, simply terrible implementation of a new app platform for such a seasoned company.

Furthermore, who would launch a new app with LESS features than the one you’re replacing? No sleep timer, no alarm…these are key features within the system. Like to start music in one room of the house…well not anymore. First let’s start music where the app demands you start music, then (maybe) you can add it to the room you want. If you decide to cut off the room you don’t want music, now the app defaults back to the room it wanted you to play music. So select the “correct” (how arrogant of me) speaker(s) and the music stops or jumps to a new song. Oh heaven forbid if you wanted to play another station during this time.

Good news, I can use the PC/Mac app to run the system. This fortunately has NOT been upgraded to the latest app failure. But who wants to run to their Mac to set a sleep timer? Who wants to run to their Mac to correctly start music in the house on the correct speaker?

Sonos, you really need to fix the app problems you’ve started. Fire the inexperienced programmer that convinced the “right” person they could “get this done”. They suck, its a failure, own up to the problem. The current versionneeds to be rolled back to the lab, thenpublish the latest working/stable version.

My Sonos system worked fine until Sonos updated their app. What bird brain at your company thought this was an improvement? I can’t add tracks to a queue any more and the interface is totally worse. Disappointing, to say the least.

I won’tbuy anything else from Sonos until their software works better and, from the many negative comments,I’m sure others feel the same way☹️

there is no “shuffle” mode on the playlists anymore

the volume control does not work

App update has been a disaster. I have an older Play 3 that I can’t connect to the system despite multiple attempts and reset’s. Music played in one room is automatically played in others without selecting the other rooms. At times unable to stop music or occasional dropouts of speakers on the system.

Tried to roll back to S1 however when I try to reconnect to an existing system it forces me to upgrade the app to the new one.

Whilst it is not uncommon for apps to be released with minor issues in order to meet marketing timelines this one feels like it is less than half baked and completely untested. So many issues.

Like many of you, I can no longer listen to different music in different areas of the house. When my controller (iPhone) says I’m managing what’s playing in Room A (only), my wife’s says she’s controlling both Room A and her office. If I stop or change the music in my office, her music changes, too. Regardless of how we try, we cannot decouple multiple rooms on the “new” controllers.

I don’t know what else Sonos has added to the iPhone app but the only changes I can easily see do not benefit users at all. Rather, Sonos has added advertising and useless information to the main screen, all apparently to benefit Sonos.I just don’t see any portion of the user base “requesting” advertisem*nts in the app!

One of the primary strengths and values of Sonos from the early days (I was a very early adopter) was the elegant simplicity, flow, and intuitive design of their app and speaker setup. In fact, it was their key competitive advantage and why Sonos has been able to command premium prices.

Why would you throw that all away and risk alienating your customers with such a flashy, but hard to use, revision? Not to mention all the apparent bugs? It’s like changing Twitter to X - why throw away all the goodwill.

Please, at least let us go back to the previous S2 version!
